September Coffee & Conversation is held on the second Thursday of the month due to Labor Day weekend.
September 9 10:30 am coffee, 11:30 buffet. Your only cost is your meal. Guest Speaker, Tammy Kobza of the John Birch Society. Come and learn how this group has fought communism in America for decades and how we can join the ongoing fight for freedom. Timely topic to launch our fall discussions!
October 7 10:30 Coffee, 11:30 buffet. The Ames school board candidates will speak sometime between 10:30-12:30pm as their work schedules permit. Ames Deserves Better is a good website to read!
Special Evening Event: Oct 12: Dessert & Discussion with Dick and Betty Odgaard of Iowa. They lost their business when they refused to host a wedding reception for two men based upon the hosts religious beliefs. Dick and Betty were among the first to lose a business in the wave of “cancel culture”. Their book will be available after the event. The event is free but registration is requested. November 4: RWCI is pleased to hear from US Senate candidate Iowa State Senator Jim Carlin. We strive to invite all conservatives to share and learn from a variety of republicans. This is another event where you are welcome to bring questions to a current Iowa state senator from Sioux City who declared his candidacy earlier in 2021. RWCI board is not endorsing any one individual for primary races. Senator Carlin will also take questions from attendees. Event begins at 10:30am, Senator Carlin available until 11:30. We will offer open discussion over lunch 11:30-12:30pm.
Book Clubs Across America
Join us in a Nationwide Book Club launched this June. The first title is by Rep. Michael McCaul and teenager cancer survivor Sadie Keller. It is an inspiring relationship! Order the book! Laura Carlson, President of RWCI, is the 2020-21 NFRW Literacy & Education Chair
Better Angels, You Can Change the World You are Not Alone by Sadie Keller & Michael McCaul. The authors read selections of their book and answer questions. The book is available on amazon and all proceeds benefit childhood cancer research. Sadie is a 14 year old who beat cancer and encourages everyone to keep moving forward. She coordinated with Representative Michael McCaul (TX) to write legislation for childhood cancer research funding and has testified in Congress. This is the first national book club for Republican Women Clubs!
